On my YouTube channel, I often risk the ability to monetize videos just to use really vibey music in my videos. Oftentimes, my song selection comes from the K R&B genre, which by the title, is pretty obvious.
K R&B stands for "Korean R&B." It refers to a subgenre of R&B (Rhythm and Blues) music that originates from South Korea. K R&B artists blend elements of traditional R&B with Korean cultural influences and often sing in Korean.
Before I proceed with my mini-playlist, I wanted to acknowledge that as a Black woman, there is a fine line in navigating the exploration and support of cultures where people may not respect me and mine. There is A LOT to be said about the appropriation of Black American culture used in K Pop and K R&B. I don't intend for this post to be heavy, but wanted to share that.
